In 1928 Carrick executed a carved and dressed lintel stone for the fireplace of the renovated Drawing Room at Dunnottar Castle commemorating the Defence of the Honours of Scotland in 1651-52.

Carrick worked on a similar lintel stone at Eilean Donan Castle while home on leave during the First World War.
